The New Old Moe Retractable Lamp

A while ago, I spotted this pic on Retro Renovation:

As luck would have it, I found a similar retractable Moe hanging light fixture down at my fave resale shop, Room Service:

Sadly, the retractable portion was busted.  The Light Fixture Shoppe on Burnet (now closed, wah!) put it on a swank brass chain for me, but I’m actively keeping an eye open for the retractable parts to eventually do it up right.

As I search out compatible curtains for the “Activity Room” as we call it, I will make the room more camera-ready, I promise!

That’s my Moe pull-down pendant in that picture, and that’s my dining room it’s in. I just sold a second one with a perfectly good pulley but a cracked shade… if I’d known I could have sold it to you.

I’m a Moe Light collector and have many of them around the house. I specifically search for the items found in the 1963-66 catalogs. I can send you more photos if you are curious.

  • No way!!! I look at your house pics all the time. They are a real inspiration!

A friend just found one of the retractable lamps at a junk shop, seems to be in great shape, but I have nowhere else to hang one. If I could, I would put them all over my house, ha!

I’m totally curious about the photos!

    Modspell,
Your house rocks! I have seen the pics on Retro Renovation and Desire to Inspire, I think. I need to tell you that I have the same stereo console system that you do. Woo hoo!
