Week 18, Month 4 wrap-up: Revenge of the Orange Peel

This month was, roof, exterior paint, concrete steps, and drywall. There are not that many big things left. Let’s see … deck, trim, floors, tile, kitchen cabinets.

Monday: Memorial Day
Tuesday: Patching and touch-up. I caught the touch-up guy/dog groomer filling in the hole for our phone nook (not sure what that thing is called). Nice job, except, we are keeping it. We figured out what he was supposed to patch; ceiling in the bathroom closet. He was very cool about it and it was easier to take out while it was still wet.
Wednesday: Did a walk-through with the supervisor, tile, door swing direction. Christiane is unable to go to these appointments. I really wish she was with me, we make better decisions when we are together. They textured the walls that evening.
Thursday: Dropped off painting instructions and … and … what in the Sam Hill?!?!? Orange peel. When I did the walk through with the super, I saw in his hands, our materials list from January where we spec’ed light sand texture. In fact, I blogged about the old house and good riddance to the orange peel back in March. But this is not the kind of thing that can be undone. Really, really big sigh.
Orange Peel
We got our new bed. We upgraded to a king, which will fit much more comfortably in our new house. Thanks to Christiane’s shopping prowess, we saved enough on the bed and mattress to pay for the pocket door and mosquito killer.
New Bed
I dropped off paint chips. I hope they get the kitchen painted so I can start work on the cabinets this weekend.
Colors
Friday: Paint (pictures later if they actually get it done.)

The house is looking great!
Okay, I’m going to be nosie. I was looking at your flicker photos (which by the way are always wonderful, I’ve become a fan of you and Christiane’s photography) and clicked on one of your commenter’s links, and stumbled upon wedding pictures of you and Christiane, which surprised me. Now, since I feel kinda like a long-distance friend, observer, of your home and life, I’m curious…Have you two been together for years and years and just recently got married, or have you gotten together within the last few years?
L.

The baby is… STILL INSIDE! LOL She’s definitely taking her time.
Laurie–we married last October 22 :) We met two years ago when David was a swingin’ bachelor with a cool pad and I was a single mom and student. We met online, where else! ;-)
As you can see, we have wasted no time since. We both wanted to expand the family, but we also knew the little 2/1 wouldn’t hold all five of us. We started planning the remodel before we were even engaged.
Hm…
Note to Self: Need to post some back-dated entries with our original sketches and ideas, and also an “About Us” page…..

Cool! I’m glad you found each other. Eric and I met the old fashioned way – in a bar. ;)
