I Am Tired and I Do Not Want to Sleep.

Just today: (double warning…boooorring)
They filled in all the holes in the old floor that were cut for foundation work. The good news is, you don’t have to watch your every step while you check out the ducts and wires overhead. The bad news is there’s no place for the crew to throw their food wrappers, and for the supervisors to spit. Actually, that’s good news too.
A guy jack hammered just enough out of the front porch that they can put in a new one. But not enough to make the house fall down. We are using a portion of the old concrete porch for a pier. Does that seem odd?
The electricians continued their work. On what I do not know. Today, I don’t want to know. They can fix it later.
The framers finished the origami project in the dining room. I want to go over there right now and measure. But it is dark, and I should be in bed.
No metal roof. Wah. It wasn’t in our spec, and it costs more than our contractor wants to spend. His call, but Wah, anyway.
I looked into roof coatings. With all our vaults, I’m worried the dining room and master bedroom are going to be hot as blazes. We could paint our roof with thick white rubber and get incredible heat reflection. But the paint alone would cost about $1000.
They can’t use our old front door. Too warped. So I designed a new one and sent it about 2 hours after the call. It’s a copy of a door I really like on a house around the corner on Pasadena. But it’s always a two-step. Find out what you want. Then find out what you can get. Hope we can get this one.
Here is the door-I-have-always-wanted.

I talked to Ace about the pier that they started to add under the dining room, then didn’t. It really looks like we need one there.
I think more happened today, (did we buy a kitchen sink?) but that’s all I can think of for now.
