Vive le Drip Cap!

As usual, Ace made everything all better. The trim on the windows is near perfect. The new windows had no sill. I didn’t specify windows with sills. I didn’t know you could get them without. So the trim at the bottom won’t be the same. But the drip cap is back and the lower boards are marked for removal on the old windows. It looks soooooooo much better.

If the window trim they put up yesterday was Night Ranger, the stuff they put up today is Buddy Holly.
In other news, they sided about half the house, put in 5 new windows and the back doors. Christiane was relieved to see they had started using real scaffolding.

And they boarded up the window in the dining room. Ugh.

We said we wanted it. Then we said we didn’t. He asked if we should keep a window from the old house, we said trash it. Then we changed the doors. Then they centered the new doors instead of putting them in the corner, then we decided we liked them there, but the window would have to go back in. Now we need it. It’s important to satisfying one of our use cases: “watching kids in the back yard from the kitchen.”

Yesterday Ace said he had told the crew to board it up ten different times. When I tried to tell him not to board it up, his phone dropped out. I called the supervisor this morning and got it all straightened out. Then, they boarded it up.
I found a double hung wood window at Habitat for $35 that fits the space. Tomorrow I’m going to try to get them to punch it back out, and drop the window in there.
This is all my bad. Out of the thousand of details, it’s my only bad. But it gives me some idea how completely a project could be screwed up by a home owner.
