Kitchen Design Mockup II

Well…..maybe the Coffee House Blend II will not work. Now we are looking at the Bungalo Blend from Modwalls for the backspalsh. Very cool and right for our house.
I saw a link to Schoolhouse Electric on House in Progress. They have some very cool light shades that ride the line between nerdy and atomic in just the right way.

Update:
I added a rollover to see the image above. Put your mouse on it to see the previous design over the new one. It’s not quite there, but I think it’s progress. More opinions?

Yes!! Those are just the perfect kitchen lights imho. They go well with the lights in theh dining room too…the shape is somewhat mirrored between the two. Also, I give a big thumbs up from anything that’s done through modwalls. They are sooooo customer service oriented. I really liked working with them when we did the kitchen! Oh, and I really like th addition of the green cabinets up top. I think it’ll draw the eye up which will make the kitchen feel larger…

I like this current one much better. I like the lighter colors of the new back-slash, and I love the new fixtures. Rejuvenation also has some nice Atomic Age light fixtures now. And the green cabinet doors at the top add a very nice definition to the whole kitchen. It is not a design choice you would see today and that’s what’s good about it. It gives it a very modern, yet retro look all at the same time. Very nice!

I think your updated lights work better with your overall look from what I see. The design looks more cohesive with the new colors too.

What materials are you using for the flooring and countertops?

I think you should leave room on top of the cabinets for some fake ivy and a rooster collection.

Could you tell me what version you have of the better homes and gardens software? I found a few copies on ebay, but I’m not sure which to buy, and I want cool illustrations like you have. I’m jealous and you are the Jones’s.

I’m pretty sure we bought Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer Suite 6. It has its limitations, and we’re lucky both of us are able to screen grab images and re-edit them in Photoshop when needed. The rollovers are alllll David ;-)

I don’t want to oversell Home Designer. I used it to block most of the image out, but it won’t do simple things like the countertop for the bar. I had to put in a table, squish it, and color it with a counter top texture, (actually, they didn’t have the countertop texture, so I used one of the fabric textures) then erase the legs in Photoshop. You can see between the first and second mockups, I copied an image of a microwave from homedepot.com, and pasted it in Photoshop. The frosted glass is a Photoshop blur, etc., etc.
Most of the built-in textures and fixtures are horrendous. You should see the choices for tile.
That said, we got the full package with landscaping and decks and everything.

Ok. I think I’ll still get it. I have photoshop and know how to use it…I don’t know if I can make things at odd angles, I’m impressed you did that…your skills are obviously higher than mine. Okay, so neither of you are architects…but you know how to use photoshop and taking amazing pictures. Are you graphic designers? I don’t know why but I’m quite curious.

Tee hee, yes we are both graphic designers. I designed the Erwin House website, David designed the wallpaper (and it is time for some spring cleaning, so everybody bug him to design some more!! LOL).

It’s all clear now!! I knew it. :) It definitely shows in your witty banner on the Erwin House blog. Very subtle/clever use of your roof.

I think the newer design is a huge improvement — go for it.

I’m nixing the green floor. For one, the livingroom will be green. For another, I love the bamboo–I think it looks and feels classy.
But I def. love the light fixtures David picked out. And seeing the sliding doors above the frosted-glass cabinets helps a bunch too.
