Our older boy set out this weekend to author a graphic novel of our renovation. These are three select pages from that tome.
In the first page we see the house before renovations. It is a memory of the first night the boys spent at my house (before it was “our” house). Fate sent an awesome hailstorm, which would have been dramatic enough without the flat roof. But hail is really loud on a flat roof. It is also an adept allusion to our numerous leaks, and the stormy history of the house which includes a drunken barber, and a punk band (Squat Thrust).
The author would like for you to note the green sewer vent for the potty.

The next page depicts the Blue Tarp. Apparently, the tarp affected the young minds of the family as much as the old.

The last page is a projection into the future. The house is finished, and we are now five. One wonders, was she born in the new house?

My favorite part is the stunningly accurate floor plan (including a crib in the master bedroom) projected onto the second story. I think Jack Schulze would enjoy that.
