I’m in love!

The second story started going up yesterday.
There was another small scuffle (I alluded to it in yesterday’s post). The draftsman had placed the windows on the south and east walls of the second story in one spot on the elevations and a different spot on the floorplans. The picture above shows the incorrect positioning. You can see if you look carefully that the leftmost upstairs window is not centered above the leftmost downstairs window as we had wanted it. We asked the framers to fix it (and the four windows on the side) and, within mere hours, they did. Those guys are pros, I tell ya.

Not only that, but they had most of the other walls in place by the end of the day. Flabbergasted, I tell you, I was completely floored when I walked through the house that evening. There is no mistaking now exactly how big each room is.
I wonder how architects feel when a house they have designed is built. Do they have so much experience imagining space that they are able to say, at the end, yep, this is exactly what I had designed? Or are they as surprised as we are, looking down at the paper and sensing one thing and looking around them and sensing another?
I love it. I absolutely love it.

Why am I the word police lately? I don’t think it was a “scuffle”. A scuffle is a light bit of fighting. Somewhere between a dustup and fisticuffs.
I would call the window mess-up at worst a glitch, or maybe a brain-fart.

This is soo exciting from the peanut gallery! I’m loving watching this, especially because it seems to be going so smoothly. Like buttah.
