Heh. I may not have mentioned that they tried that with us too. Never mind that we told them umpteen times that we needed it delivered. They also told us that the shipping would take about 2-3 weeks. It was delivered 2 days after we arranged for it.

IKEA has very strange understanding of logistics. We had some similar issues with them a few years ago. We were building out our office and we had quite a few things shipped to the house, but we did not get our order. We got a similar order for somebody in Virginia (we are in Maryland). They got our order.
Two weeks later we got our order. But it was not complete.

For all of their efficiency in design, it does seem like the efficiency breaks down on the back end during fulfillment. It was an utter madhouse when we went to check out–even with 16 lanes open. We had to take a few items home immediately, mostly the toe-kick, and there seemed to be some confusion about where we needed to bring the car to load it up.
Ah well, such is the price of affordable cuisine
