Haunted House

David’s last post reminds me of yesterday. The youngest came with us to the walkthrough and was fascinated with the process of taking the siding off of the house. He wanted to know, what were those tools they were using? I told him they were called “crowbars.”
“Hmmmm, crowbars,” he repeated, thoughtfully.
Uh oh.

I stopped by the house last night after David told me it had a tarp on top. The tarp! We’ve been talking about that thing for months.
I walked around the house in the dark, the only light coming from the flash of the camera, momentarily illuminating the darkness and then blinding me immediately afterwards for a few seconds.
The tarp glowed with the light of the moon. The house jiggled when I stepped into it, the lightness of it no longer able to bear my weight in a stable way. The wood floors creaked and groaned.
For a moment, our house was haunted.
